Vice Presidential Election

 

 

Matthew Porteous has been elected as Vice President for 2009-2011 and is therefore President Elect for 2011-2013

 


2009 AGM

This year's AGM was held on the weekend of 14th-15th November 2009 at the Carden Park Hotel. Seventy nine members and their families attended.

There was a Black Tie dinner on the Saturday night, with a James Bond theme including table magic and a casino entertainment.

 

 

 

Paul Szypryt, outgoing President, made gifts to Secretary Val Chipchase and Administartor Jon Whitmore, thanking them for their help during his time in office ...

AOUK Research Prize 2009
 

 

 

Three papers were shortlisted for presentation at the AGM and were judged by President Paul Szypryt, Vice President Bob Handley and Chairman of the Research Committee Ian Pallister

 

 

"Can DCP and LCP plates generate more compression?"

by Dr Feras Ya'ish, from Sunderland Royal Hospital

 
 

 

 

"Pre-operative haemoglobin concentration is not a predictor of post-operative blood transfusion requirement in operated neck of femur fractures"

by Dr Aswin Vasireddy, from Eastbourne District General Hospital

 

 

The Prize of £1,000 was awarded to Dr Stefan Bajada from Keel University and the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry, for his paper entitled:

"Decreased osteogenesis, increased cell senescence and elevated Dickkopf-1 secretion in human non-union stromal cells"
